The Shade Tolerant Rose
List includes some rose varieties that we feel are best suited for planting in
partial shade. Partial shade being dappled light under a sparse canopy of trees
or in a position where the roses will only receive 4-5 hours of sunlight. Other
rose types that are shade tolerant are most Rugosas, Albas, Centifolias and
Hybrid Musk roses. While these roses are shade tolerant and will do well in part
shade; all roses do best in full sun. To answer a very common question: Roses DO
REQUIRE some sunlight to grow. You can't plant them in deep or almost complete
shade.
